MYOB is introducing mandatory security changes that take effect 1 March 2026.
OdataLink users reporting on MYOB company files will need to reauthorise each data file to continue accessing live data via OdataLink.
This change applies to MYOB connections only. Xero data file connections are not affected.
What Has Changed
MYOB has updated the way it controls access to company files. All connected services must now request permission to access only the specific data they need, such as general ledger, contacts, banking, or payroll. This is different to the previous process that provided access to everything at once.
This change comes directly from MYOB and applies to all services connected to a cloud-hosted MYOB company file. It is not optional. After 1 March 2026, any data file that has not been reauthorised with the updated scopes will stop connecting to OdataLink.
This update also provides improved security and gives businesses greater control over which applications can access their data.
Steps to Reauthorise MYOB Company Files
Each MYOB data file connected to OdataLink must be reauthorised individually. The process only needs to be completed once per data file.
- Log in to your OdataLink Dashboard with Admin credentials.
- Navigate to the list of Data Files by clicking on Data Files settings on the left.
For each MYOB file in the list: - Click on the Data File Name or the “View” button corresponding to each Data File to view details
- Under Settings tab, click “Reauthorise” to reconnect MYOB Data File to OdataLink
- Click on “Login to MYOB” button on the Add or Reauthorise MYOB Data Files page.
- MYOB Login page will be opened prompting for Administrator ID and password for the Company File.
- Repeat the steps 3 – 6 for each MYOB data file.
Once reauthorised, Live data will continue to flow through to connected OData clients, such as Power BI and Excel, as normal.
