We are pleased the announce the recent addition of a new option to the Model. The OData Client Compatibility option fine tunes the OData Feed as different client have different implementation of the OData standard.
Prior to this option, OdataLink would auto detect the client requesting data (whether Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Data Factory or other) and would make slight changes to ensure the OData feed was compatible.
This option now allow you to force it to work a specific way. This was primarily added as it was not possible to detect customers who used Solver to pull data.
We recommend you use the (Auto Detect) option unless you want to force it to work a specific way. It’s important to note that choosing a specific option won’t make the OData Feed not work for the other platforms.
It simply changes small behaviours. For example, Tableau cannot access endpoints exposed as functions. So choosing tableau makes those endpoints appear as regardless entity sets (e.g. tables of data).
How to configure the OData Client Compatibility option
To configure the OData Client Compatibility option, follow these steps.
- Go to app.odatalink.com.
- Click on Models on the menu in the left-hand side.
- Find the model you want to work on and click View.
- Select the Settings tab.
- Click on the Edit Model button.
- Find the Miscellaneous Options section.
- Choose the OData Client Compatibility option required.
- Click Save.
