In December 2025, Xero announced changes to its platform pricing model, introducing charges based on the volume of data downloaded through its APIs. These charges came into effect on 1 March 2026.
Historically, OdataLink has not needed to monitor or limit the amount of data being downloaded by individual customers. However, with data egress now representing a direct cost to our business, it has become necessary to introduce a fair use allowance to ensure we can continue providing a sustainable and cost-effective service for all customers.

In late May 2026, Xero will cease to provide access to the Legacy Expense Claims endpoints.
We’re pleased to announce some major improvements to the OdataLink logs architecture.
We are pleased the announce the recent addition of a new option to the Model. The OData Client Compatibility option fine tunes the OData Feed as different client have different implementation of the OData standard.
Prior to this option, OdataLink would auto detect the client requesting data (whether Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Data Factory or other) and would make slight changes to ensure the OData feed was compatible.
This option now allow you to force it to work a specific way. This was primarily added as it was not possible to detect customers who used Solver to pull data.
We’ve been hard at work writing a few new tutorial articles to help explain how you can control how accounts appear on reports and dashboards.
One set of tutorials explain how you can create a mapping table to add additional rows to your Profit and Loss, and Balance Sheet Reports for both Power BI and Excel.
In February 2025, we finalised a major enhancement to the OdataLink Firewall. We are pleased to announce the addition of geo-based IP addresses.
In November 2024, OdataLink added one of the nicest quality of life updates for logging into OdataLink for Xero users.
Most of the time, if you are using Xero, you will be jointly logged in with Xero while using OdataLink. This button leverages this fact by allowing you to piggy-back on your already existing Xero login and credentials.
Simply put, it basically allows you to login to both apps at once using your Xero credentials.
Even while we were building it, it didn’t sound that impressive. But in a world of 2FA and MFA, it makes accessing either OdataLink or Xero a breeze.

While January is a short month with all the festive disruptions, we did manage to add a new feature.
As the year draws to a close, we realise we have not been communicating as much as we should have. We started the year strong but somewhere in April, we completely dropped the ball.
We haven’t stopped adding enhancements to the platform, however.
