May has been a very busy period for us. The updates focused more on cosmetic, usability and discoverability enhancements.
Redesign of the endpoints list
We have updated the list of endpoints to be more useful.
First off, it includes a short description to assist finding your data. Secondly, it includes a column showing if it is a Standard or Premium endpoint (more on this later).
Redesign of Tooltips
Tooltips were updated to make them easier to notice and read.
They were often missed due to placement and appearance. They are now bright blue. When you hover over them, helpful information will appear to describe the options available.
We intend to make more use of them in the coming months.
Redesign of notes, warnings and errors
The look and style of notes, warnings and errors has also been updated.
Error messages will remain in red/pink colour.
In addition, we added a new style of warnings used to display notes. These are in lighter orange and are there to display information without looking as urgent.
Performance improvements
We’ve made some changes to the way the data is queried from Power BI, Excel and Power Query. These changes, while completely hidden, should make a noticeable improvement on performance for some.
Secondly, we’ve upgraded our servers to support a larger demand.
Additional restrictions for the Free Edition
We placed additional restrictions on the Free Edition of OdataLink. This change ensures our customers are not adversely affected by it’s popularity.
The Free Edition has the following additional restrictions:
- It can only access 5 Standard endpoints.
- It cannot access any Premium endpoints.
You can find the updated information on the terms relating to the Free Edition by reading OdataLink’s end-user license agreement.
